About Dr. Koen’s Blog
Susan L. Koen, Ph.D.

I am an organizational psychologist, which simply put, means I am an expert in how organizational design, organizational culture and organizational processes, policies and practices affect individual engagement and performance, and vice versa. My special area of expertise is powering people and businesses to generate Sustainable Performance in an Always-On World. All of my career I have been passionate about exploring time and its effects on organization design and workplace culture, as well as its effects on human health, safety, reliability and productivity.
I have built a consulting and training business based on my passion, which you can learn about at www.roundtheclockresources.com. Through my business, I have been fortunate to partner with Global 50 through Fortune 500 companies and some extremely talented business leaders and front-line employees to affect positive changes in their enterprise metrics. These consultations and training resources have generated Sustainable Perfomance and associated breakthrough business results, while also maximizing employee engagement, safety, health and job satisfaction.
Blog Topics
In this blog, I focus on the particular performance challenges and opportunities posed by global work, extended-day work, shift work, mobile work and rapid-response work situations. I explore both the human and organizational aspects of today’s time-driven world. I also take a multi-disciplinary perspective, incorporating research and practice knowledge from business strategy, operations management, technology, human physiology, brain science and of course, organizational psychology. In particular, I share my knowledge and thoughts on the following performance-related categories:
- Time Forces Era
- Business Strategies for the Always-On World
- Leadership, Culture and Time
- Organization Design for a Time-Driven Era
- Fatigue in the Workplace
Please join me as I explore these critical topics affecting business and human performance in today’s Always-On World.

So, please sign up for an RSS Feed or email delivery and receive my blog 22 times per year. Knowing how time-driven we all are, I promise to make the Time-Driven Performance posts worth your time!
And, I want to hear your thoughts and feedback as well. Please post your responses, thoughts and questions in the Comments section of each blog, whenever you have time. I also invite you to send me an email at skoen@timedrivenperformance.com when you want to share information with me about your successes–personally and/or organizationally–in marshaling the new Time Forces and achieving Sustainable Performance in an Always-On World.
